It has been another wonderful (over a) week, apart from the fact that I have been sick with a cough/cold that I am just starting to get over now, left me feeling horrible 24/7. I probably recieved my illness from the germ invested children I work with at the nursery. Even with their germs, I love them and have really missed working full time at the nursery, I really enjoyed it. It was strange to go back to normal hours, and quite sad. I am still loving it, the kids are great and lots of fun.
England's true colours are starting to show and it has been dreary and rainy and the lie of beautiful sunshine and warmth has passed. The yuck weather is surprisingly pretty with low hanging clouds and mist making the hillsides look very whimsical. Everything is beautiful here though, legit, everything. The fields, houses, streets, unbelievable. And everything is old, I mean 19th century old, not 40 years old. It's so neat to look at everything. It's like you're walking through a story you've read about the old days, I dunno, its super cool. Seeing these amazing things makes me so happy, and I just want to share it with my loved ones back home. I think I am falling in love with this country because of the beautiful things I get to see everyday, especially the natural things. And it makes me want to find that love in other countries!
Last weekend my family went to Somerset ,which is the English country side, to celeberate my aunt and uncle turning 60 this year. Needless to say, the countryside is breathtaking, I was in aw most of the weekend. I would have taken more picture on the drive up, but, I hate taking pictures from the car so I did not and on the way home my sickness reached a new level and I was super sick driving home. I can tell you about what I saw though! I saw lots of sheep and cows just hanging out in fields, trees with changing autumn leaves, the motorway, adorable little villages with unbelievable cathedrals, and some big rocks stuck in the ground what's it called? Uh..Oh yeah! Stonehenge, No big deal guys.
So, we took a wrong road trying to get to the cottage, as it was hidden away. And, well, we got stuck in the mud, in the pouring rain, in the pitch black, down some random path in the country. My mum, cousin and I were stuck in the pouring rain, waiting for someone to come save us, and it remained funny the whole time, even being soaked to the bone, hilarious. We were saved after about and hour and the car was saved the next day, it all ended well. And coming out of the rain into an amazing cottage didn't hurt to much either, it was massive and so beautiful. I wanted to hide so I didn't have to leave.
The weekend was full of family, imperial cookies (which are a Winnipeg thing apperently, who knew!), autumnal scenes, cider, high tech talking bathrooms (freaked the heck out of me), Rock Band, Kinect, Starbucks, fireworks, long walks, dinner for 18 and lots and lots of giggles. It was such a great weekend, I had a wonderful time, so thank you to my Aunty Mary and Uncle Lee!
I have been knitting like a Grandma, I was hoping to leave England having learned something, collected another hobby, I wasn't expected knitting though. I went into a knit shop in my area, super cute little store. I caught my finger in the door and spent the first 10 minutes sitting in the store nearly passing out, that was nice. There was a bunch of sweet ladies in there knitting, and they were all fussing over me and figured out I was Canadian and started to like me more. I left the store with all the knitting supplies I needed, and with a free glass of Squash.
A random funny story, which I begin with the tidbit that Tesco's is like Superstore. While working at the nursery I asked a little girl how her week off was, she said good, I asked her what she did, excitedly she replied "Went to Tesco's!" with a giant smile on her face. Of all things she did, buying sweets at Tesco's was the highlight. Ohh, the things kids say.
